R.I.P. Michael Jackson, a true 80s icon - Kickin' it Old School
06.26.09 (12:04 am)   [edit]

The world lost a true musical genius today with the death of Michael JacksonMichael's toesThe news of his unexpected death saddened me very much. No matter what else he had going on in his life, I will always be a fan of his music.

Rest in peace, Michael.

To commemorate his life, please click on this link to read my issue from August celebrating his 50th birthday and listing my favorite songs of his from the 80s.  Enjoy those and always remember the music.  Peace and much love.

Michael RIP

Quote of the day:  "We're meant to lose the people we love.  How else would we know how important they are to us?" -"Mrs. Maple" in the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I'm absolutely devastated. If only he'd made his comeback, then MJ would've known how much the world really loved him. And everyone would've remembered the megastar he deserved to be.

A Facebook friend casually commented, today, that we should remember that Michael Jackson was a pedophile. I did not know that. From my recollection, he went through a very public criminal trial and was found "not guilty" with a unanimous verdict. And I further understood there was a blatant attempt by the accusing party to extort money from him. It is all a sordid and sad story. And also proves true the old adage, "I you throw enough mud, then some of it is bound to stick." So Jackson's image has been forever tainted by unsubstantiated accusations, and of course exacerbated by his own bizarre behavior. I know human nature, and I know what goes through the mind of a lot of people. The guy in some ways was effeminate. He had face-jobs and appears to have bleached his skin- although he said it was a medical condition. He talked with a high voice and liked to hang around with kids. So, it all adds up to guilt-by-appearance. Although I know nothing about what was going on in his heart, he likely died a sad and lonely man. I think the rush to shallow and media-centered rush to judgment contributed to his early death.

So, guess I need to think about more cheerful things as I start the day!

Really? They should have more TV coverage. I had no idea! Poor Farrah Fawcett has been reduced to a blurb.

Thanks, again, OS!
I checked back to your birthday post of his from last August, watched some of the videos and remember the songs as my son used to play them, over and over and over ... :) Nice memories!
