You forgot to mention his hit Cruisin', released in 1979, peaking at #4, and making the Billboard top 100 list of 1980. posted by: Marissa (reply) post date: 08.31.09 (12:57 pm) There used to be a commercial in the 70's, like Ronco or K-Tel albums with all the music hits, and when Cruisin' would play, one of the actors would go, "It's Smokehhh!" So whenever I hear Smokey on the radio, I say that. posted by: Ladyg (reply) post date: 09.01.09 (9:14 am) Cruisin was one of my favorites. posted by: sunshine (reply) post date: 09.20.09 (2:11 pm) Just announced 80s Supergroup ABC will be headlining the event! Very definitely the number one group who came along and kick-started the Eighties with their own brand of pop for a ‘new decade. Their debut Album ‘The Lexicon of Love’, voted by many as the best British album of the decade crashed straight into the UK album charts at number one. ABC will be fronting Oxjam at Matter, showcasing their hits songs ‘Tears Are Not Enough’, ‘ Poison Arrow’, ‘The Look Of Love’ and ‘All Of My Heart’. Even some twenty seven years since “The Lexicon Of Love”, ABC audiences and the press all say that the energy and the vocals of the band today easily match what they put out back in the 80’s , giving audiences worldwide a great night of music and entertainment. Martin Fry the '..self-ironising pop genius is on top form..'NME and you will see him and the band in all their glory at Matter, The O2 this October 16. |
